There can be a lot of anxiety around this, so starting to get a better idea of what a job entails can really help!
There was a lot of discussion about this topic in class, but for me, this video drove the point home the most.
Here's what you learn: careers are weird!
They can twist and turn and go in wildly different directions from what you expect, and that's ok!
We spend a lot of time on choosing a major, looking into jobs, picking a concentration, etc. etc. etc.
So, it can be hard to remember that none of this is final
Pivots are certainly possible—you're not stuck with your first choice!
Last but not least, the job shadows round everything off with some real-world experience.
Out of anything else, these can teach you what it's actually like to work in tech.
Try to make the most out of these!
Personally, I learned that there's a lot of flex in most work environments, more than I expected.
You may be assigned to one project or area, but often can go to other teams in the company to help or get help.
Real-world experience like that is incredibly valuable, and these will be some of your most important takeaways from CIST1010!
